Transportation

School Bus Registration forms will be emailed directly to the email address on file with Skyward. These emails will be sent out weekly between July 13th and August 14th.

·         Form Deadline: Friday, August 14th at 4:00 PM.

·         Please Note: Busing for the first day of school cannot be guaranteed if your bus registration form is not received by this deadline.

If you need to sign up for busing after August 14th or at any point during the school year, please contact your school's secretary directly.

Any student who lives within the Sheboygan Area School District has the opportunity to apply to attend any of the district schools through our School Choice enrollment process.

How does school choice affect transportation services?

No transportation will be provided. School Choice Applications are approved with the understanding that the parent/guardian is responsible for transportation and the child will remain at the school requested for the entire year.

Student Transportation Cards will be issued in October.

As part of the Sheboygan Area School District’s ongoing efforts to enhance student safety and transportation  efficiency, we will be implementing an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) card reader system designed to track attendance on school buses.

Each student will be issued a unique transportation card by their school that they must carry with them while using the bus service. Students will need to scan (tap) their cards when they board the bus and when they exit. This process helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that all students are accounted for during their travels.

If your student does not have a card or if their card is lost, broken, or not working, please contact your school secretary immediately for assistance.

Only one pick-up point and one drop-off point per student is permitted. Pick-up and/or drop-off point may be a home or daycare within the school boundary. A bus stop location may be up to a half mile walking distance from home/daycare.  In order to shorten the time on the bus, there may be more group stops or a further walk to/from the stop location.

Students of the Sheboygan Area School District are ineligible for bus transportation by the School District if:

1. Live within a pre-determined Walk Zone for grade K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

2. Distance shall be measured from the closest pedestrian entry point of the property where the student resides to the closest pedestrian entry point of the assigned school building. The pedestrian entry point of the residence shall be where private property meets the public right-of-way. The district shall determine the shortest pedestrian route whether or not it is accessible to motor vehicle traffic.

3. Grade K-5 that live within the 2-mile Walk Zone within the corporate limits of the city of Sheboygan are not conditions of unusual hazard in the judgment of the Board of Education, per the recommendation of the Hazardous Review Committee.

4. Grade 6-8 that live within the 2-mile Walk Zone within the corporate limits of the city of Sheboygan are not conditions of unusual hazard in the judgment of the Board of Education, per the recommendation of the Hazardous Review Committee.

5. Grade 9-12 that live within the 4-mile Walk Zone within the corporate limits of the city of Sheboygan are not conditions of unusual hazard in the judgment of the Board of Education, per the recommendation of the Hazardous Review Committee.

Access Student Schedules

Access to student schedules is granted only to the student’s designated contacts by the Transportation Department. The Stopfinder contacts, at their own discretion, may share their student’s schedule with caregivers (sub-subscribers.) An invitation to activate your Stopfinder account will be sent via email.

1.    Follow the bus driver's instructions. The driver is in charge and their directions are for the safety of all students.

2.    Stay seated and facing forward. Keep your body and belongings out of the aisle to avoid tripping hazards.

3.    No screaming, loud talk, or bad language. Loud talking and shouting can distract the driver and other students.

4.    Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Do not touch or bother other students.

5.    Do not eat or drink on the bus. Food and drinks can cause messes and attract pests.

6.    Throw away all trash. The bus is a shared space, so keep it clean.

7.    Keep your head, hands, and belongings inside the bus. Do not stick anything out the windows.

8.    Be respectful to others. This includes students, the bus driver, and other people on the road.

9.    Report any problems to the bus driver. If you see something unsafe or someone is being disrespectful, let the driver know.

10.   Scan your pass when getting on and off the bus.

For all school bus riders, the parent/guardian is responsible for contacting Prigge's Bus Company in the event your child will not be riding the bus on any given day (due to illness, vacation, doctor appointment, etc.)

If your child does not ride the bus for three consecutive days, and you have not contacted the bus company during that time, transportation will be terminated. You will need to contact your child’s school secretary to reinstate transportation, which will go into effect a minimum of two (2) working days after you contact the secretary.

Parents are expected to provide other transportation to school for students suspended from the privilege of bus use due to misconduct.

If walking or waiting in the street, walk single file, please face traffic and stay as close to the edge of the road as possible. Be at the bus stop early.

Stay back at least 15 feet and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop.

Always cross at least 10 feet in front of the bus. Stop, look left, right, and left again if crossing a street.

Stay away from the bus if you drop or forget something. (The bus driver cannot see a person if they are too close to the front of the bus.) Never crawl under a school bus.

Avoid waiting in a house or car as the driver needs to see the child while driving down the street.

If your child leaves an item on the bus, please contact Prigge Bus Company directly at 920.459.2961. Please provide a description of what was left on the bus. The dispatcher will then check with the driver and advise if the item was found and how to reclaim it.
